Business Intelligence is for managers who are not satisfied with the standard reports produced by any software. They require the ability to create reports ad hoc, and to get the information they need easily, quickly and accurately.

In practice

A Business Intelligence system empowers managers to create, customise and save their own reports based on the information most relevant to their needs. Unlike standard system reports, which may be limited or inflexible, a BI system lets users select the specific columns, rows and data they want to analyse.

As long as the required information exists within the database, the BI system can extract and present it in a meaningful, easy-to-understand format. Because it reads data directly from the database, there is no need for manual exports or imports — reports are always up to date, giving managers accurate, real-time information for informed decision-making.
